GOD’S BEST VERSUS YOUR BEST
Life will throw balls of decisions at you, but you have the choice to pick either the best option that soothes you or God’s desire for you.
The sad part is that what you deem best for you will most times not be what God’s best for you is. Your perception of good, better, and best will always be shaped by what you have seen, heard, smelled, or felt. Your judgment of what is best for you will always be determined by the limitation of your knowledge.
What is that saying again? “You can only dream within your realm of possibilities.”
Second to this, your definition of what you deserve, desire, and demand will always be clouded by your selfishness. Who gets hurt by your desire? What is the cost of the thing you are single-mindedly pursuing? “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, but lose his soul?”
Have you ever imagined the best decision in your heart and realized it is far from something that will give you peace? That might seem “iffy” to you, but have you looked back to some of the things you desired five, ten, or twenty years ago, and realized how ridiculous and self-sabotaging they would have been?
Just as recent as yesterday, last week, last month, or last year. I revisit some of the choices I came close to making and ask myself, did I really almost do that?
When life throws options at you, let your decision be based on God’s conviction and the peace attached to it. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – Jeremiah 29:11
If you consistently seek after your own desire at the cost of God’s will for you, you will inevitable end in the situation He has been constantly trying to steer you from. Many times, we have majestically strolled into decisions that seem best to them and have landed us into devastating troubles.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:33
Dearly beloved, stand firm in what God has said and done for you, don’t be carried away by the ephemeral, non-essential things you see and perceived. He never changes and His words are eternal. If He has given you a promise, no matter how long it takes, it will be fulfilled. Don’t get swayed, don’t let life overwhelm you, and don’t “self-medicate”.
“Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:24
When you opt for God’s best for you, peace follows and fulfillment radiates your life. Even your worst nightmare doesn’t seem so frightening as before. Most importantly, His presence will be a constant feature in your life. What better assurance do you need?
Always pick God’s best at the expense of your best choice.
“Godliness with contentment is great gain.” – 1Timothy 6:6
