Some years ago, I traveled to spend my holiday with one of my aunts.
I observed that from time to time I would hear the sound of a train. The sound was loudest from the kitchen. So I would rush to the kitchen window and pear outside as hard as I could. But alas, I was disappointed every time, I did not catch a glimpse of the train.
I asked my aunt “Is there a train station close by? I can hear the sound of the train.” She replied, “I don’t know of any train station close by, but alert me when next you hear the sound.” So the next time I heard the sound, I told her, “Can you hear that sound? That is the sound I was talking about.”
“Oh!”, she replied with a laugh, “that is the sound of the kettle.” It turns out that she had a kettle that gave a peculiar sound, like that of a train whenever the water in it was boiling. Wow! Mystery solved. No wonder I did not see a train.
The signs around alert us to the fact that time is running out. The trumpet would sound anytime. The last trump would be the beginning of the end. Life as we know it would end very soon.
The fact is that “And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other” (Matthew 24: 25).
Like a train, the world is rushing on to the end of time, are you ready? If the trumpet sounds right now, what would be your fate? Where will you spend eternity?
The insecurity, economic hardship, natural disasters, contention between countries (threats of wars and rumors of war), moral decadence, the triumph of evil, etc are nothing to be compared with the untold suffering and hardship that await those who miss the trumpet sound at the rapture and refuse to take the mark of the beast.
Only those who have received Christ as their personal Lord and savior would hear it as a call to come home to heaven. They will escape the suffering and hardship that would be prevalent in the world. There is only one way to join this team and that is by giving your life to Jesus. But the choice is yours to make.
In case you are wondering that “you have been hearing rumors that the world would come to an end and the trumpet would sound” now it seems to be distant news. Do you know that “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3: 9). This is your opportunity to give your life to Christ.
Yes, this is your chance to make amends. Confess your sins to Jesus, ask him to forgive you and accept Him into your life, and then only, will you be eligible to hear the sound of the trumpet and escape the horrors to come.
