RESCUED FROM IMPENDING DANGER
One sunny afternoon, as I walked past a car park, there was a young man in a wheelchair in front of me. As we walked behind a parked vehicle, suddenly, the car started reversing.
For a minute, I was wondering if the driver could not see that people were walking behind him. In an instant, I remembered the man in the wheelchair. He was already in harm’s way. I doubt if the driver could see him through the rearview mirror.
My survival instincts kicked in. I could step back as quickly as possible but that would not help the man in the wheelchair. I have no idea if the young man would be able to move away as quickly as was required to get out of harm’s way. Of course, all these thoughts crossed my mind in a split second. I barely had time to make a decision.
I used my hand to hit the rear of the car. That caught the attention of the driver. In a short time, I and the young man were able to move out of danger.
A lot of us are in harm’s way, unfortunately, we might be unaware of the danger just around the corner. With each passing day, we get closer to eternity. The clock is ticking pretty quickly. A lot of us are living as usual, barely giving thought to what life after death would be like.
We are mostly occupied with the many activities of survival. It is not bad to think about our career, our family, our vision, and dreams but sadly that is not all there is to life.
Events in recent times clearly show that we can no longer be oblivious to the fact that eternity is just a step away. Our life here on earth would greatly determine where we will spend eternity. Make no mistake; there is surely life after death.
Also, we know for a fact, that no one will live forever. We all wish to live long but no human knows with certainty the exact number of days we will live and when we will say goodbye to life on this side of eternity.
This is why each of us needs to take a minute to think, “Where will I spend eternity?” The bible says, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” (Hebrews 9:27)
There are only two options in eternity; an eternity with God in heaven or one with the devil in hell.
Everyone desires an eternity with God in heaven, but it is not automatic. Thankfully, the price has been paid. There is hope. Your eternity can be secured in Christ but you have to take definite steps. “That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life” (Titus 3:7)
You must accept that Christ’s death on the cross was specifically for you to get saved from the horrors of hell. He loves you and wants you to be His own.
All we need to do is accept that we have gone our own way and sinned against Him. Forsake our past sinful vices and accept Christ as our personal Lord and savior. We can’t get saved by our power but thank God for grace and the cross. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1: 12)
No need to delay, because delay is dangerous but salvation can be yours if you will take the steps above. Jesus loves you no matter what. Respond to His love today by accepting the price He paid for you. Now is the time. Do not delay.
